Who We Are

We love people.

We believe that spending quality time with those we love is one of the greatest joys on earth whether it is family gathered around the kitchen island making dinner and chatting about the day or relaxing with friends on the back deck with a drink. For over 20 years, we have made ‘home’ our passion. From helping a friend with a small bathroom remodel to building our own home, and everything in between, the long list of exceptional home renovations all had one thing in common: people. Our homes are buildings that become the backdrop for the memories shared with those we love and creating beautiful spaces to make those moments happen is our passion.

In 2022, we were presented with an opportunity to fulfill a lifelong dream of owning a family business through the purchase of St. Louis Screens. St. Louis Screens has a long history of being a reputable family business adding beauty and value to homes for over 15 years and, as it turns out, this would not only fulfill our dream of owning a family business, but would also merge our love for family, and our passion for cultivating beauty in the places and spaces where memories are made.

This Is Our Team

Jim Basta

Jim Basta

Owner, Operation, and Sales

Jim brings a unique blend of teaching, coaching, and hands-on renovation experience to St. Louis Screens. After earning degrees in teaching and accounting, he spent years teaching middle school math and coaching baseball and softball, while also managing renovation projects, rental properties, and home flips. His passion for building and craftsmanship eventually led to the purchase of St. Louis Screens, where he could specialize in and train others on quality screen work. In addition to running the business, Jim remains active in family and community life. He loves golf, baseball, and any other competitive activity, as well as traveling with his family. For Jim, the mission of treating every home like his own is a natural extension of how he’s lived and worked for decades.

Kelley Basta

Owner, Strategy, Finances, Marketing, and General Office Administration

After more than 20 years in finance and operations leadership roles, Kelley made the leap from the corporate world in 2022 to purchase St. Louis Screens with her husband, Jim. She has embraced the opportunity to help build the family business and continue the tradition of working together as a family team. Outside of work, Kelley enjoys spending time with her kids, extended family, and faith community, as well as traveling and cheering on college basketball teams. The mission statement for St. Louis Screens was created one night around the dinner table, and for Kelley, it remains a daily reminder of the company’s commitment to quality, integrity, and family.

Our Story

The early part of our married life found me working part-time in accounting and compliance roles. Jim, after completing degrees in both teaching and accounting, spent his days teaching eighth grade math and coaching high school baseball and softball. His summers were spent helping renovate homes for friends and family.

In 2005 while I was pregnant with our third child, Jim took on his biggest project to date: building our family home. In 2007, we had our fourth child, and it was during that season that I was presented with a significant promotion opportunity at work. That was when we made the unconventional move for me to go full-time and Jim to stay home with our four young children.

Over the next 15 years, Jim stayed very busy not only managing our household but also picking up renovation work, purchasing rental homes, flipping properties, substitute teaching, and filling the screen repair role for a friend’s local hardware store. While his word-of-mouth renovation projects kept him plenty busy, we always dreamed of a bigger business. St. Louis Screens became available and not only fit right into Jim’s wheelhouse but also offered us the opportunity to specialize in one area as well as to one day hire and train expert teams as we expand.

While the kids are older now and pursuing their interests, our business efforts have always been family-focused. We have always considered our family a team that works hard and plays hard. Our kids have been an active part of flipping houses, updating rental properties, and maintaining our own homes for many years. Our mission statement was created one night around the dinner table. It reflects our commitment to hard work, quality results, and treating people like our family.
